Susan Fry’s painting styles are diverse, ranging from photorealism

to broad-stroked palette knife work, sometimes in the same piece.

She draws inspiration from historical female artists including

Frida Kahlo, Georgia O’Keeffe and Henrietta Berk.

She studies under painter-sculptor Eduardo Stein of Mexico City

and has completed Ian Roberts’s Mastering Composition course.

She currently exhibits her work at the Art on Main Gallery in Murphys

and, in 2023, won Best of Show in the Mother Lode Art Association’s

Fine Art Show in Sonora. Susan holds a bachelor’s degree in anthropology

and is a certified California Naturalist, and her subjects reflect her

passionate love of nature, history and the ways people live.

She is an avid runner, long-distance hiker and ocean kayaker.

An adventurous spirit with a restless streak, she has called places home

that include Monterey, Big Sur, Calaveras County and the jungles

of the Yucatan Peninsula.

She currently lives in Forest Meadows near Murphys, California.
